Channeling my inner skate-princess!
Coat: All Saints | Leggings: Tabio | Fur Collar and Cuffs attached | Earrings: Betsey Johnson | Headband: Betsey Johnson
I have been waiting for what seems like
forever to ice-skate! Definitely a highlight of the winter festive season, when
my sister organized a skate session at the Tower of London ice rink, I was full of excitement!
The advertisements all over London only added to this. So when Saturday came
around, I was ready. I put on my sparkliest headband, snowflake earrings and
furriest collar, and headed to Tower Hill for an early evening treat!
Daily effort to build up the hype
From the stiff, blue, plastic skates that
seem to be offered at every single public ice-skating rink, to the bumpy and
uneven ice surface, it felt good and comforting to be back on the ice. The
first few laps were slow and a bit shakey, but after a few laps we all gained
confidence and whizzed around the ice, weaving through our fellow skaters and
trying not to get whacked into by the little kids who seemed to not take notice
the ordered one-way system that was operating on the rink. It seemed that 80%
of the tumbles on ice were initiated by the little kids who would skate right
into an unassuming skater, sending the toppling down onto the hard ice, whilst
the little rascal would quickly bounce back and skate off again!
Skating away!
After twirling around the ice and doing our
best Torvill & Dean impressions, it was time for us to get off the ice.
Post-skating treats were served in the form of deliciously warming and
appetite-satiating pizzas from The Dickens Inn. We initially ordered the
Beast-sized pizza, to which our waiter kindly suggested us downgrade to a
medium. Good thing too, as the medium was still extremely large! And duly
filled up 4 very hungry girls!
Crossing the bridge to The Dickens Inn… to
be greeted by a GIANT Christmas Tree!
Delicious ‘medium’ pizza of the Dickens’
Veggie Feast and Funghi combination.
This was the perfect wintertime treat, and
it was so kind of my lovely sister to organize this all… and now I can’t wait
for my next ice-skating session!!
