Table No.1 @ The Watermark, Shanghai

Table No.1 at The Watermark hotel is one of the finest restaurants in the South Bund complex. The food served there is totally up my alley: small delicate plates with incredible flavours... We popped in for a New Years lunch, and our party of five ooh-ed and ahh-ed over the beautiful dishes that arrived at our table. Although communal tables are a pet peeve of mine at restaurants (sharing?! with strangers?!) the food completely over-ruled this reservation of mine. Straight after my meal I turned to my sister and proposed a dinner at Atherton's Pollen Street Social upon our return to London...

Scallop ceviche, avocado puree, burnt cucumber

Slow cooked egg, potato foam, tomato fondue

Chocolate ganache, pistachio parfait, brioche
